Kitchen Remodeling Cost in Lebanon County, PA: Line by Line, With the Numbers That Move It (2026)
By the Amazing Builders crew, Myerstown, PA. Prices quoted are typical ranges for our region, not a quote for your house. Ask for one.
A kitchen remodel in Lebanon County costs between $8,000 and $120,000. That range is useless on its own, so here is the version that is not: most families who replace cabinets, counters, appliances and flooring on the same footprint spend $25,000 to $50,000. A refresh that keeps the cabinet boxes starts around $8,000. A full gut with walls moving passes $60,000.
The numbers below are typical regional ranges from industry sources and our own jobs. They are not a quote. A kitchen is priced after we measure it.
The three tiers
| Tier | What it includes | Typical cost |
|---|---|---|
| Minor refresh | Paint or reface the cabinets, new hardware, a countertop swap, new backsplash, same layout | $8,000 to $20,000 |
| Mid-range remodel | New cabinets, countertops, appliances and flooring, same footprint | $25,000 to $50,000 |
| Full gut, new layout | Walls moved, custom cabinetry, premium counters, top appliances, structural and mechanical work | $60,000 to $120,000 and up |
Most Lebanon County kitchens are in the middle tier, and most of the money in that tier goes to four things.
South Philadelphia, PAAug 2025afterThe big four line items
Cabinets. The largest line in almost every kitchen. Painting or refacing the existing boxes runs about $4,000 to $9,500 for an average kitchen; our cabinet painting guide explains when that is the smart move. New cabinets run $100 to $400 per linear foot installed, which puts a typical kitchen at $8,000 to $25,000 and more for custom work. The jump from stock to semi-custom buys better construction and sizes that fit the room; the jump to custom buys anything you can draw.
Countertops. Laminate runs $15 to $50 per square foot installed. Granite $40 to $140 depending on the slab. Quartz $50 to $120. For a family kitchen we usually recommend quartz: no sealing, no staining, and the light colors that make a small kitchen feel bigger.
Appliances. A mid-range package of refrigerator, range, dishwasher and microwave runs $3,000 to $10,000. ENERGY STAR models cost a little more and pay it back on the electric bill.
Flooring. $6 to $22 per square foot installed. Vinyl plank is what most owners choose now: waterproof, quick, and it runs straight through into the next room. Tile and engineered hardwood are at the top of the range.
The decisions that add thousands
- Moving the sink, the range or the island. Plumbing relocation runs $1,000 to $5,000. A new gas line or a dedicated circuit for a range adds to that. Keeping the three main fixtures where they are is the single biggest saving available.
- Taking out a wall. A non-load-bearing wall is $800 to $2,000 to remove and patch. A load-bearing wall needs a beam and sometimes a footing: $4,000 to $15,000. We can tell which is which at the walkthrough.
- Electrical. Old kitchens rarely have the circuits a new one needs. An upgrade runs $2,000 to $7,000, done by a licensed electrician.
- Island and peninsula. More cabinets, more counter, often a sink and an outlet. An island is a second small kitchen.
- Lighting. Recessed cans, under-cabinet strips and a fixture over the island are the difference between a kitchen that photographs well and one that works at 6 a.m.
West Hanover Township (Hershey), PASep 2025duringWhat is different about Lebanon County kitchens
Most of the kitchens we remodel in Lebanon, Myerstown, Annville and Palmyra are in houses built before 1970. They have a few things in common:
- Soffits. The boxed-in space above the upper cabinets usually hides a duct or a drain, or nothing at all. We open one before pricing cabinets to the ceiling.
- One small window and a door to the yard. The layout has to work around both. Moving a window is possible but it is exterior work on top of the kitchen.
- Uneven floors and out-of-square walls. Cabinets have to be shimmed level; counters are templated after the cabinets are in, not before.
- Knob-and-tube or two-wire circuits in the oldest houses. This is where the electrical budget goes.
Farmhouses and the newer township colonials have bigger kitchens, which costs more in counter and cabinet, but fewer surprises.
Where to save without regret
- Keep the layout.
- Paint the cabinet boxes and buy new doors only if the boxes are solid. Half the kitchens we see qualify.
- Semi-custom cabinets in a stock door style, not custom.
- Quartz in a plain color. The exotic patterns cost double and date fast.
- Vinyl plank floors run through to the dining room.
- One good light plan instead of a chandelier.
Where not to save: the sink base and the drawer hardware, which get opened fifty times a day, and the electrician.
How long it takes
A refresh with cabinet painting is about a week, with the doors off site for spraying. A mid-range remodel is three to five weeks once materials are on site. Cabinets and counters are the schedule: semi-custom cabinets take four to eight weeks to arrive, and the counter is templated after they are installed and takes another week or two. We order before demolition so the kitchen is out of service for weeks, not months.
A full gut with walls and new circuits runs six to ten weeks.
Two of our kitchens
In a South Philadelphia rowhome we built a white shaker kitchen with quartz counters and a subway tile backsplash on the existing plumbing wall, with uppers to the ceiling and tall pantry cabinets beside the refrigerator. Near Hershey we updated a kitchen around dark cabinets and a granite island. Both kept the plumbing where it was.
PennsylvaniaafterWhat a good estimate looks like
An itemized estimate lists cabinets, counters, appliances if we supply them, flooring, tile, plumbing, electrical, drywall and paint, trim, permit and labor as separate lines. A single number for "kitchen remodel" cannot be compared to anything. Pennsylvania's Home Improvement Consumer Protection Act requires a written contract for any job over $500 and gives you three business days to cancel; you can verify any contractor's registration with the Attorney General. Houses built before 1978 fall under the EPA lead-safe rules when old paint is disturbed, which a kitchen demolition always does.
Frequently asked questions
What does a kitchen remodel cost in Lebanon County? Most mid-range kitchens with new cabinets, counters, appliances and floors on the same layout run $25,000 to $50,000. A refresh starts around $8,000. A full gut with layout changes passes $60,000.
Is it cheaper to paint cabinets or replace them? Painting is $4,000 to $9,500 for an average kitchen versus $8,000 to $25,000 for new cabinets. Painting only makes sense if the boxes are solid and the layout works.
How much does moving the sink cost? $1,000 to $5,000 for the plumbing, plus the cabinet and counter changes around it.
Does a kitchen remodel pay back? In Central Pennsylvania a mid-range kitchen typically returns 70 to 80 percent of its cost at resale and all of it in daily use. A high-end kitchen in a modest house returns less.
