Remodeling and painting in Hershey, Hummelstown and the East Shore
Hershey is thirty minutes west of our shop on Route 422, which runs through town as Chocolate Avenue. It is not a borough but a community in Derry Township, built by Milton Hershey around his chocolate factory starting in 1903, with Hersheypark opening for employees in 1906 and the medical center drawing families from everywhere since. Hummelstown, next door, is older: a borough laid out in 1762 with brick houses along Main Street.

That is the kind of work we do here: the early company-built houses near Chocolate and Cocoa Avenues, the mid-century neighborhoods, and the newer developments in Derry, South Hanover and West Hanover Townships, where a lot of families arrive for the medical center and want the house done before the first shift.

Is Hershey inside your normal service area?
Yes. Thirty minutes on Route 422, no travel charge, and we were working in West Hanover Township last fall.
Can you finish the house before we move in?
Often. Send the closing date and the list; stairs, floors and paint can be done in an empty house faster than a lived-in one, and we prefer it.
Do you work in Hummelstown's older brick houses?
Yes. Plaster, old trim and pre-1978 paint get the same careful treatment as the historic houses in Lebanon County.
Can you replace carpeted stairs with wood?
That was the West Hanover job: carpet off, new treads, painted risers, walls patched and painted. One to two days for a straight run.

Company-era houses near the factory
Brick and frame, early 1900s, built well and updated many times. Plaster walls, real trim, kitchens that were never meant for a modern refrigerator.
Mid-century neighborhoods
Ranches and split-levels from the 1950s to 1970s with one or two small bathrooms, carpeted stairs and a basement that was finished badly in 1985 or not at all.
Newer developments in the townships
Colonials in Derry, South Hanover and West Hanover Township. The jobs here are builder-grade kitchens and baths brought up to the house, basements finished, and stairs retreaded from carpet to wood.

- Permits come from Derry Township, Hummelstown Borough or the Hanover townships depending on the address; we handle whichever it is.
- New owners relocating for the medical center: send us the closing date and we can walk the house before you move in.
- The hills east of Hershey mean walk-out basements; finishing one is a different plan from a buried basement and often easier.
