Window and Door Replacement Cost in Lebanon County and Myerstown, PA: Per Window, Per Door, and What the Ratings Mean (2026)
By the Amazing Builders crew, Myerstown, PA. Prices quoted are typical ranges for our region, not a quote for your house. Ask for one.
A replacement window in Lebanon County costs $500 to $2,200 installed depending on the frame material, and a whole house of eight to twelve windows lands between $8,000 and $18,000. An entry door runs $800 to $6,000 depending on what it is made of. Those ranges are wide because a vinyl double-hung and a wood-clad picture window are different products, so the first job is deciding what you actually need.
Typical regional ranges, not a quote. Windows are priced per opening after we measure.
Signs it is time
- Condensation between the panes: the seal has failed and the insulating gas is gone.
- Sashes that stick, will not stay up, or let in a draft you can feel with a hand.
- Rot in a wood sill or frame, soft to a screwdriver.
- Single-pane glass with storm windows. The combination is worse than a modern double-pane unit.
- A door that has to be lifted to latch, daylight at the threshold, or a deadbolt that no longer lines up.
One failed window in a house of good ones is a repair. Several, or any rot, is a replacement conversation.
South Philadelphia, PAMay 2025afterWindow replacement cost by frame
| Frame | Per window, installed | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Vinyl | $500 to $1,100 | The standard choice; no painting, good insulation, limited colors |
| Fiberglass | $900 to $1,700 | Stronger and more stable than vinyl, paintable, handles dark colors in sun |
| Composite | $1,000 to $1,800 | Wood-fiber and resin, between vinyl and wood in look and price |
| Wood or wood-clad | $1,200 to $2,200 and up | The look for old houses; aluminum or vinyl cladding outside cuts the upkeep |
Bay, bow and picture windows cost more than a standard double-hung. Black exterior frames add a little. For a whole house, eight to twelve windows commonly run $8,000 to $18,000.
Door replacement cost
| Door | Installed |
|---|---|
| Storm or screen door | $300 to $900 |
| Steel entry door | $800 to $2,000 |
| Fiberglass entry door | $1,500 to $3,500 |
| Wood entry door | $2,500 to $6,000 and up |
| Patio or sliding door | $2,000 to $5,000 and up |
For most Lebanon County houses we recommend fiberglass for the entry: it does not rust like steel, does not swell like wood, takes paint or a wood-grain stain, and the better ones carry long warranties.
What is in the price besides the window
- Measuring and ordering. Every opening is measured; windows are made to size and take two to six weeks.
- Removal. Old sashes and frames out. In masonry houses, a pocket replacement keeps the brick opening; in frame houses, a full-frame replacement is sometimes needed when the old frame is rotten.
- Installation. Shimmed plumb and level, foamed, flashed, caulked.
- Interior finish. New stops, sometimes new casing and a stool.
- Exterior trim. Aluminum capping or new wood trim.
- Disposal.
A quote that is far below the others usually skips the flashing or the interior finish. Ask what is included.
South Philadelphia, PAAug 2025afterThe energy ratings, in plain language
Every window carries a label with numbers. Two matter in Pennsylvania:
- U-factor is how much heat escapes. Lower is better. Look for 0.30 or under for our climate.
- Solar heat gain coefficient (SHGC) is how much sun heat comes in. Lower blocks summer heat; higher helps in winter. Around 0.30 is a sensible middle for Lebanon County.
Double-pane glass with a low-E coating and argon gas hits both numbers. Triple-pane costs more and helps most on a north wall or a very cold exposure. The Department of Energy explains the labels in more detail. New windows do cut drafts and bills, but the bigger comfort gain is usually in how the room feels near the glass in January.
Windows in Lebanon County houses
- Brick and stone houses in Lebanon, Annville and the farm townships get pocket replacements in the masonry opening. Each opening is a slightly different size.
- Frame houses with rotten sills get full-frame replacements and sometimes new sheathing around the opening.
- Rowhomes have one or two walls that face weather; we focus the budget there. In a South Philadelphia rowhome every window went in during May so the house was sealed before drywall, and the front door and railings came last.
- New rooms and additions get new-construction windows with nailing fins, like the three black-frame windows in this room.
Doors: what to decide
- Material, as above.
- Glass. A half-light or an oval panel brings light into a dark entry; a solid door is more private.
- Swing and hardware. Keep the swing if it works; change it only if the door hits something.
- Sidelights and transoms add light and cost; they also mean a wider opening.
- The threshold and sweep. The parts that stop the draft at the bottom. We replace both.

Order to installation is two to six weeks for standard windows. Installation itself is about an hour per window plus trim, so a whole house is one to three days. An entry door is half a day; a patio door, a day.
The law and the warranty
Pennsylvania requires a written contract for any home improvement job over $500 and registration with the Attorney General for contractors doing more than $5,000 a year. Windows come with a manufacturer warranty on the glass seal and frame, often 20 years to lifetime; keep the labels and the paperwork, which is why we leave the stickers on until the final walkthrough.
